A living in today’s world would be unimaginable without video games. Since they have appeared they have been interesting and popular. Here, we are going to mention those most played and best-sold.

Tetris

This puzzle video game is developed by EA Mobile and published by Electronic Arts for the iOS, BlackBerry OS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Windows Phone. The game was sold in 425 million copies.

Wii Sports

This sports game was developed and published by Nintendo as a launch title for the Wii video game console. The game was included as a pack-in game with the Wii console, but now, Wii Sports is available on its own as part of the Nintendo Selects collection of games. The game consists of five separate sports games: tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing. Until now it has been sold in 82.72 million copies.

Minecraft

Minecraft is a 2011 sandbox video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson. The game enables players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Minecraft was awarded five times during the 2011 Game Developers Conference. In 2014, Microsoft announced a deal to buy the ownership of the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion. Minecraft was sold in 73 million copies until now.

Grand Theft Auto V

This one is an open world, action-adventure video game released in 2013. It was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, later for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and finally last year for Microsoft Windows. It has shipped over 60 million copies, which has made it one of the best-selling video games of all time.

Super Mario Bros

Super Mario Bros. is a 1985 platform video game developed and published by Nintendo. In this first of the Super Mario series of games, the player controls Mario and in a two-player game, a second player controls Mario’s brother Luigi. They travel through the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Toadstool from the antagonist Bowser. Sold in 40.24 million copies, Super Mario Bros. is among the best-selling video games ever.

Mario Kart Wii

Here is one racing video game developed and published by Nintendo. It was released in 2008. With the Wii Remote’s motion sensing, it provides intuitive and conventional steering controls. Each copy of the game is equipped with the Wii Wheel accessory to augment this feature. The game won multiple Wii-specific awards from IGN, including Best Racing Game and Best Online Multiplayer Game. Guinness World Records has awarded Mario Kart Wii with a record for being the best-selling racing video game of all time. Until now, the game has been sold in 40.24 million copies.

Tetris (Game Boy)

This puzzle video game for the Game Boy was released in 1989. Tetris is a pseudorandom sequence of “tetrominos”, shapes composed of four square blocks each, which fall down the playing field. The Game Boy version of Tetris has sold over 35 million copies.

Diablo III

Diablo III is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It was released for Microsoft Windows and OS X, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360. Versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released in 2014. The game set a new record for fastest-selling PC game selling over 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release. It was the best-selling PC game of 2012, selling over 12 million copies during the year. It has sold 30 million copies across all platforms.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Call of Duty: MW3 is the first-person shooter video game, developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, with assistance from Raven Software and published by Activision. Within 24 hours, after releasing, the game sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. and UK alone and grossed $400 million, making it the biggest entertainment launch of all time. Until now, it has been sold in 26.5 million copies.

Pokémon Red and Blue

It is originally released in Japan as Pocket Monsters: Red & Green. These are role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. These are the first installments of the Pokémon series. The games were sold in 23.64 million copies.

These are some of the most played and sold games ever. This list is long and here we can mention: New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Play, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Grand Theft Auto IV, Nintendogs, Mario Kart DS, Pokémon Gold and Silver etc.
